NEWS IN: Sifuna Announces Venue For Next LINDA MWANANCHI Mega Rally Weeks After Kisumu

Political temperatures are rising in the country after the Linda Mwananchi movement announced plans to take its campaigns to Machakos County, a region widely considered a political stronghold of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The movement, led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, confirmed that it will hold a major political rally in Machakos Town on May 31, 2026, as it intensifies efforts to popularise its agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna made the announcement through his social media platforms on Wednesday, declaring, “Tunafungia mwezi pale Masaku,” in a statement that has already triggered political debate across the Ukambani region and beyond.

The Linda Mwananchi faction has in recent months emerged as one of the most vibrant political movements within the opposition ranks, attracting huge crowds in rallies held across different parts of the country.

The group has positioned itself as a people-centred movement advocating for governance reforms, accountability, and youth inclusion in national politics.

The upcoming Machakos rally is expected to test the movement’s growing influence in Ukambani, traditionally dominated by the Wiper Democratic Movement.

However, several Wiper legislators have recently shown support for the Sifuna-led team.

Among them are Mavoko MP Patrick Mukau and Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu, who have accompanied the movement during nationwide tours.

The movement gained national attention following attempts to remove Sifuna from his role as ODM Secretary General. Since then, leaders allied to the faction, including James Orengo, Babu Owino and Caleb Amisi, have intensified grassroots mobilisation campaigns.

Recent opinion polls have also boosted the group’s confidence, with surveys indicating growing popularity among young voters compared to rival factions within ODM.

Political analysts now believe the Machakos rally could shape future alliances ahead of the 2027 polls, especially as opposition leaders continue positioning themselves for the next electoral contest.
