Dark Evening as MP is Involved in an Accident While Heading to Ruto's Event Today in Kilifi

Rabai Member of Parliament Kenga Mupe was involved in a road accident on Wednesday while travelling to attend President William Ruto’s development event in Kilifi County.

The legislator confirmed that the accident occurred at approximately 1:30 pm when another vehicle, which was attempting to overtake from the opposite direction, collided head-on with his car.

According to the MP, the impact of the crash was severe, causing all the airbags in the vehicle to deploy instantly. Despite the seriousness of the accident, Kenga Mupe said he, his driver, and his cameraman escaped with only minor injuries.

Emergency responders and members of the public quickly arrived at the scene to offer assistance before the injured were attended to.

Speaking after the incident, the Rabai lawmaker expressed gratitude for surviving the crash, saying he believes divine intervention protected them from what could have been a fatal accident.

He thanked God for their safety and reassured his supporters and family members that everyone travelling in the vehicle was in stable condition.

The MP was on official duty at the time of the accident, as he joined other leaders accompanying President William Ruto during his tour of the coastal region.

The Head of State is currently in Kilifi and neighbouring counties to launch and inspect several government development projects aimed at improving infrastructure and public services in the area.

The incident briefly disrupted the MP’s schedule, although he indicated that he was recovering well. Leaders and residents from the region have since sent messages of concern and goodwill following news of the accident.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash as road safety concerns continue to rise across the country.
